In looking for cheaper energy bills, my research yielded quite a few choices and most of them involved significant changes to lifestyle – not just mine but my entire family’s. I wasn’t ready to undertake that sort of drastic change so I chose a simpler, but effective option. I replaced my air circulation systems with ceiling fans installed with my overhead lighting fixtures. I read that ceiling fans were a good method for circulating the oxygen in my home, be it winter, summertime or any of the other milder seasons. The article presented the case that fans, in addition to circulating cool air, did the same with warm air. So in the summer the fan could circulate cool oxygen throughout the area while in the winter ceiling fans could circulate the warm oxygen from the hot spots in the space to maintain the a much more even temperature. An even temperature means I’m not adjusting my heat and air controls so much and wasting electricity.
So I installed them in each of the rooms downstairs and what was a pleasant surprise! The family space had an immediate alter in air high quality as the oxygen was not stagnant.
The area also started to feel cooler and I was able to set the thermostat up to 78 degrees Fahrenheit. It used to be set to 70. Instantly I knew that there would be a drop in the power bill inspite of the additional due to the fact it there have been long intervals between the compressor kicking in to send cool oxygen in to the room. We didn’t just turn the thermostat up simply because we thought the fans would do the job, we turned them up due to the fact the rooms fell a lot cooler when the fans have been rotating. I guess the breeze effect, kind of like the wind chill factor during winter, really produced a difference.
The pleasant, breeze like feeling really created the difference in my household by improving the air quality and removing that faint hint of musty odor. The fans also managed to drop the summer-time bill by almost 20%. We were running the air-conditioners less and enjoying the cool breeze much more. Sometimes, we even shut the air off and kept the fans running, particularly on those summer evenings when we had a storm. The decision to install ceiling fans throughout the house with the objective of cutting down power costs proved to be the correct one. I am glad we did it.
